Introduction Discussion Board

Welcome to the Discussion Board!

This space is designed to help us get to know each other better and foster a sense of community as we embark on our journey of integrating technology into education in an asynchronous manner. As educators, we understand the importance of adapting to the digital age and enhancing our teaching methods. Let's use this platform to introduce ourselves and share our thoughts on the role of technology in the classroom.

Prompt:

Please take a moment to introduce yourself to the group. In your introduction, consider including the following points:

  1. Name: Your preferred name and a brief personal introduction.

  2. Teaching Background: Share your experience as an educator and the level(s) you teach.

  3. Technology Familiarity: Describe your current comfort level with using technology in your teaching practices. Are you a tech enthusiast, a beginner, or somewhere in between?

  4. Expectations: What are your expectations for integrating technology into your teaching? What are you hoping to learn or achieve through this graduate program?

  5. Challenges: Are there any specific challenges you foresee in incorporating technology into your teaching methods?

  6. Technological Interests: Do you have any particular technologies or tools you're excited to explore during this course?

Feel free to respond to your peers' introductions, offering words of encouragement, sharing similar experiences, or asking questions to spark meaningful discussions. This board is a safe space for collaboration and growth, so let's support each other as we embark on this technology-enhanced teaching journey together!

Remember, this is an asynchronous discussion, so feel free to participate at your own pace throughout the week. Looking forward to connecting and learning with all of you!

Best regards,

Damiano

Hello all,

My name is George Tammaro and I am looking forward to discussing and learning valuable teaching advice from each and everyone of you! My background in education begins after I graduated college and decided to be a para at my old high school. I worked with a student one on one with cerebral palsy and it brought back my desire to be an educator. I would go on to long term sub in that same school and during that time I did all of my requirements for Alternate Route, so that I could pursue being a full time teacher. I am in my second year of teaching and I am extremely happy to be in this field. Last year I was an 8th grade Social Studies teacher and this year I am the 6th Grade Social Studies teacher. For me using technology in my teaching practices is very comfortable, though I prefer doing assignments on paper, I personally feel students nowadays just look up the answers rather than actually educate themselves. I am not opposed to learning new strategies for integrating technology in my class room more efficiently because right now I only use it for do now's and exit tickets'. It would be nice to learn new strategies to be able to incorporate them into my classroom routine. The only challenge I feel I will have is having students use technology without just looking up answers. I know there are many different websites that can be used but I am still unfamiliar with many of them as a novice teacher. I am looking forward to learning any new technology strategies during this class that will help me become a better teacher and help my kids learn in another way in the classroom.
